Students showed their SJP pride at the 2016 Spring Activities Fair in the Anderson Student Center.
Students for Justice & Peace is a student-led organization at the University of St. Thomas. Our goal is to promote social justice both on campus and throughout our world. We are devoted to peace, equality, and recognition of human dignity.
The group was founded in the mid-1980s. Students took action against violence in Central America, Apartheid in South Africa, and more. Other topics of interest have included a campus recycling program, the Gulf War, and Fair Trade products. Students took part in various protests, including an annual trip to protest the actions of the School of the Americas.
Today, Students for Justice & Peace continues to carry out its mission of nonviolence and justice. Past events have included a Fair Trade trivia night, fundraising for a water purifier in Najaf, Iraq, and protests against the School of the Americas. We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 in the Anderson Student Center, and everyone is welcome!
