Adoration
"To visit the Blessed Sacrament is...a proof of gratitude, an expression of love, and a duty of adoration toward Christ our Lord."
--Paul VI as quoted in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1418
What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is when a person places him or herself in front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed in a Monstrance (pictured above).  Eucharistic Adoration provides the opportunity for a person to be in the true presence of the Lord (i.e.,
body, blood, soul and divinity), to pray, read Scripture, contemplate, worship, etc.

Does Adoration replace Mass?

NO, Eucharistic Adoration does not replace going to Mass, since Mass is the most integral part of the our Faith.  Without the consecration at Mass, Eucharistic Adoration would not be possible.  Adoration is meant to be a time to worship and pray before the Blessed Sacrament in addition to Mass, not in replacement of Mass.

How does Adoration help one's spirituality

Adoration allows a person time to reflect on the Lord, his or her Faith, to contemplate the mysteries of the Catholic Faith, and open one's heart to Divine Graces.
